In a study titled “(NEURO)INFLAMMATORY COMPONENT MAY BE A COMMON FACTOR IN CHRONIC WIDESPREAD PAIN AND RESTLESS LEGS SYNDROME”
Researchers made the following observations:
- Proinflammatory/neuroinflammatory processes may be an underlying, common factor in both Chronic Widespread Pain and Restless Legs Syndrome.
- RLS prevalence increases with an increased number of pain areas and the higher the inflammatory load by spreading, the higher the occurrence of RLS.
- The etiology of RLS remains uncertain, but there is increasing evidence for proinflammatory and neuroimmunoendocrine mechanisms.
